When I became a mother, I tend to rate food establishments based on its competence to be child-friendly more than the food itself. I am keen to the staffs’ attitude and reception with kids. A crew who gives highchair without being asked will definitely be rewarded (with a smile).
Just recently, the M.E.E.L. crew had a spontaneous family date night, or should I call it a pre-sleep snack. We drove along NLEX and dined at Pancake House at Caltex Station right after Meycauayan Exit, (yes, the usual stop-over for travellers). I’m not sure if it was my 1st time or just the 1st time I had a recall of the establishment. Either way, I’m glad we gave it a try.
I ordered the House Specials Set for P257, it had a taco, spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic bread, 1pc pan chicken and iced tea. Mr. M. on the other hand had Classic Pan Chicken for P186, it had 2pcs chicken and rice and complementary yogurt ice cream. We ordered milk shake to share.
My take: The food was great. I especially liked the taco which was so meaty and filling. The spaghetti was also delicious, I am a spaghetti lover so I tend to be meticulous with it, but I’m glad it passed my taste. I was too full I just ate the chicken without savouring it, but I think it was also good since Mr. M. finished his’ even before I started eating my spag. The place had a cozy vibe with a backdrop of classic movie posters. The plus part was it came prepared with entertainment package for Miss L. The wait staff automatically handed her crayons and coloring materials even before they handed us their menu.
The Verdict: It was distinctly homey experience, and friendly service – we’ll definitely be coming back.
honestly, i never been to pancake house. I hope to visit PC soon.
ReplyDeleteParang 1st time ko din nga yata yan eh.hehe
DeleteYup, Pancake House is child friendly. They even have placemats which children can color while waiting for the food. And oh, I love their cucumber shake. very refreshing
ReplyDeletePasado ang Pancake House. =) We love the milk shake, I wish to have the courage to try that cucumber shake.
DeleteThe milkshake must have been really yummy. That really seems like a kid friendly place to visit.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is. Try it once. =)
Deletei love their taco, crepes and waffles but i find pancake house too pricey for my budget. hehe... the one here in cebu is not as customer friendly
ReplyDeleteI also liked their taco, I must try their crepes. I'm not interested much with waffles though. Actually, that's my worry, baka hindi lahat ng branch ganon ka-friendly.
DeleteWe have been in that Pancake branch. I remember those movie posters. I love their chicken and meaty spaghetti. And from Pancake, Daddy got an idea of the Almondigas soup (I hope I get it right). He imitates that kasi at home, hehe.
ReplyDeleteMommy Maye
San kayo sa Bulacan? Parang same lagi ang mga escapades natin..hehe
DeleteMarilao sis :)
DeleteMeycauayan kami. Neighbors pala tayo eh.
Small world. Nice meeting you sa cyber world.hehe
DeleteMalapit nga tayo sis kasi dyan din ang daan namin from Heritage to SM. Baka yan un shortcut to nyo Divine sa may Loma De Gato. Hehe :)
DeleteOo nga eh, nakakatuwa naman. =)
DeleteI love pancake house but now they will have a competition in iHop.
ReplyDeleteUy, that I have to try. =)
DeleteI've been in this place. This is in the 2nd floor if I am not mistaken. The place is really good. I think the price is great for a meal. They also offer meals for kids.
ReplyDeleteOo nga daw. Mommy Maye and I chatted for a while (see above), almost neighbors pala tayo.hehe
DeleteI love pancake but I haven't been to this place before. Thanks for sharing:)
ReplyDeleteTry it, I'm sure you'll like it. =)
DeletePancake house is nice and homey nga...some food are just a tad pricier but once in a while, it would be a good treat.
ReplyDeleteI agree, we all deserve a treat, once in a while.
Deleteooohh yes! taco is one of my mom's fave order at pancake house.. hehe
ReplyDeleteSarap kasi, hindi tinipid sa ing.
DeleteAy, di pa ako nakakatry jan, makapasyal nga. I also like establishments with staff na hindi mo na kailangan magrequest ng high chair. Dapat automatic na. Yung iba (like a place I know!), kitang-kita nang hirap kang magbuhat ng toddler, nakatingin lang sayo mga waiters!
ReplyDeleteIt should be implied diba, common sense nalang.
DeleteBtw, that "place" should be named.
Food here is really good. They've been around for sometime now and their sandwiches and salads are a must-try!
ReplyDeleteHaving heard that, I must go back and try it nga.
DeleteThe last time I went to Pancake house was 2010. I find their meal very delicious talaga.
ReplyDeleteOo nga. =)
DeleteI love Pancake House. I also ordered the set meal with tacos and spaghetti the last time. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Janz and sorry tinamad ako mag-update eh.hehe
DeleteI didn't know they gave out crayons there. It was a long time ago since I've been to PC but I love the fact that you can eat pancakes anytime.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised nga when the staff handed my girl crayons and coloring mat.
DeleteI've tried the pan cake house before but that was long time ago, I'm not sure how it is now but glad that they've added extra service for family having kids like handing out crayons, that's great!
ReplyDeleteIt is and it attract patrons.
Deletei have never been to pancake house too. wish we could try. burgoo does the same thing, when we had our birthday lunch there last year, the table was already prepared for kids who wants to doodle. when we sat down, the waiter automatically gave our little boy crayons. amazing! kakatuwa! :-)
ReplyDeleteNakakatuwa such little gestures noh, it makes you love them. =)
DeletePancake House is one of my favorite restos, too! :) Actually, it's like a comfort resto. When I can't decide where to eat, I'd go to Pancake House.
DeleteTrue! That's what I love about Pancake House. They know that children could get cranky waiting for food to be served. They have some coloring activity/materials to offer the dining kids so they are occupied and lessen the possibility of tantrums! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree. Plus it makes the children happy, my girl actually giggles when handed the crayons.
DeleteTrue that Pancake House is child-friendly but not wallet-friendly. Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteHaha.
DeleteShala your baby saknya lhat ng bench!
ReplyDeleteOo, kanya yan. Hehe
DeleteWith three little ones, I also want to dine in restaurants that are child-friendly. Ganun kasarap milkshake? hehe!
ReplyDeleteTo each is own, pero pinag-agawan kasi namin eh. Masarap talaga siguro.hehe
DeleteFor me, at any establishments, service comes first before the food or any other stuff they offer. Service matters the most. But in the case of pancake house, they got both: good service and great food :)
ReplyDeleteI agree. Good service always compensates.
DeleteI agree with daddy yashiro haha! I guess maybe that's the reason why I havent tried it yet
ReplyDeleteTry it on your special day, it's worth your penny naman eh. =)
DeleteYummy, I love pancake house for special days. Mahirap i-arawaraw.
Deletei suddenly miss pancake house!!! i love their taco too!!! and the chicken salad.... and the pan chicken!!! the best fried chicken for me.... will definitely prefer it over jollibee or mcdo's or kfc's hehehe
ReplyDeleteI love their taco, right.
DeleteI wonder if there is a pancake house dito sa Bohol.
I hope you can partner with me on this year's back to school project
Ui, Bohol based ka? I like it there.
DeleteSuch a noble cause, I'll see what I can do.
oh, Pancake House is so expensive; i would cook na lang or ask my mom to cook pancake or me haha
ReplyDeletePaminsan-minsan lang naman, actually 1st time namin yan.hehe
DeleteBeen a long time since I dined in Pancake House...medyo mahal kasi....pag may sponsor (manlilibre) yan sasama ko hahaha!
Actually, mas feeling ko mahal pa ang Jollibee, considering the value for money.
